Bigots Babbling In A Bar

(NOTE: If you are offended by the content of this Poem; then please do not feel alone. I likewise am offended by the content of this Poem; and I wrote it myself. Dave)

A Commie around every corner,
A Terrorist upon every terrace.
The dark skinned and non-Christian,
You know man, they’re such a social menace.

The slaves that we imported,
They may cause an insurrection.
Preacherman says if you don’t pray,
You get tortured after the Resurrection.

Got to watch them Mexicans man,
They got this weird notion.
That this land is theirs,
It’s ours man, from ocean to ocean!

Got to watch them Indians man,
They got this weird notion.
That this land is theirs,
It’s ours man, from ocean to ocean!

It was us that did the work man,
It was we that developed Western Civilization.
It was Divine Providence man,
That made this here great nation!

It was we that brought the Blacks here,
To work and pick our Cotton.
Look away, look away man,
Old times there are not forgotten!

It was we that fought hard,
To kill them heathen Injuns!
It was we that Industrialized,
We made electricity and mechanical engines!

It was we that invaded foreign lands,
And overthrew foreign governments.
To make for ourselves a better life,
To live in high rises; instead of dusty old tents.

And it was we that brought Christ,
To those heathen dark skinned heathens.
Did I say heathens twice?
O well, at least now they can go to Heaven.

Yeah, we saved them dark skinned heathens,
Gave ‘em a land of opportunity.
Now them dark skinned heathens,
Can live like you and me!

And how do they thank us man?
I ask you if this ain’t ungrateful.
They owe us for their way of life,
They owe us for every plate full.

Now them dark skinned heathens,
And the Gays and the Liberals too.
They want to blame us for their hard times,
Yeah man, they blame me and you!

They whine, cry, and complain,
Bout poisoned water up in Flint.
And they moan and go on,
Bout killer Cops and dead bodies on the pavement.

We got to watch out man,
Trust in our President to protect us from all harm.
Cause they’re all out to get us man,
Stay alert and stay armed.

It ain’t gonna be easy man,
To make America great again.
But it’s the folk who think like you and me,
Who will protect our women and our kids.

A Commie around every corner,
A Terrorist upon every terrace.
The dark skinned and non-Christian,
You know man, they’re such a social menace.

Corporate Bullies and The American Way

Bribery and Brutality,
‘Tis the American Way.
Corporate bullies and their strong armed Law;
Have always ruled the Day.

Railroad executives made the decisions,
The Military executed their will.
Our First Americans to this day,
Are imprisoned and occupied still.

Rockefeller paid the National Guard,
To suppress Colorado miners on strike.
After Rockefeller’s paid goons,
Had murdered Strikers children, and their wives.

When starving WWI Veterans,
Came to DC to demand their Bonus Pay.
Macarthur and Eisenhower lead the military operation,
Attacking WWI Vets and their families that day.

Blue clad bullies with bullets and badges,
And armed with Fire hose might.
Have water tortured peaceful demonstrators,
Who dared sit for equal rights.

College students who demonstrated,
Against an illegal and immoral war.
Were murdered by National Guardsmen,
The dead count tallied four.

Don’t you dare organize!
Don’t you dare stand up for what’s right!
Don’t you dare become a dissident!
Don’t you dare stand up and fight!

‘Cause Bribery and Brutality,
‘Tis the American Way.
Corporate bullies and their strong armed Law;
Have always ruled the Day.

Children have been burned to death,
War Veterans attacked by the Military,
Students have been murdered,
Because people dared to be contrary.

Against a system of oppression,
Against systemic tyranny,
Against an evil empire,
Against an oppressive plutocracy.

From Ludlow to Kent State,
From Wounded Knee to Standing Rock.
Plutocratic servile bullies,
Arrive and go off half cocked.

So don’t you dare organize!
Don’t you dare stand up for what’s right!
Don’t you dare become a dissident!
Don’t you dare stand up and fight!

‘Cause Bribery and Brutality,
‘Tis the American Way.
Corporate bullies and their strong armed Law;
Have always ruled the Day.

And the beat down goes on………

(Dedicated to the brave Veterans who have committed to self deploy to Standing Rock in early December in order to stand with and protect our nation’s brave Water Protectors who have come under siege and vicious attack by Corporate bullies and their strong arm of the Law.

Veterans such as these understand the concept of standing up for the good by standing up against the evil.

I respectfully salute such brave men and women. DH)

Make America Great. Eventually.

“We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

I love these words. These words, commonly known as “The Preamble”, serve as the introduction to our Constitution, and hence any reading of, interpretation of, or attempted application of our written law of the land should be filtered through the prism of this preamble if you will.

In these words I read the potential for a harmonious and peaceful society.

In these words I read the potential for a society which puts the needs of people before the greed of profiteers.

In these words I read the potential for a society which wants to share the blessings of liberty not only with their own generation, but which also wishes to secure those benefits for future generations.

In essence, in these words I read the potential for America to become great. And I sincerely hope that one day we may actually aspire to such greatness.

The potential of these words notwithstanding, the fact is that due to their limited social perspectives, the intent of the authors of the preamble was to limit the scope of its application to an elitist few.

As unpleasant as it is to acknowledge, the fact is that our “founding Fathers” were the leading Aristocrats of a bigoted era, and as such our Constitution was written by those who assumed White Superiority and the subjugate role of women.

The considerations of “the general welfare” certainly did not apply to the American Indian, whose presence upon the land of rich resources was an obstruction to the greedy golddiggers from whom our nation descended.

Nor for that matter were “the blessings of liberty” to be secured for the Africans who were a product of profiteering for Northern businessmen, and all the while primarily the utility of exploitive labor for the wealthy businessmen of the South.

In essence, the scope of beneficiaries of these great words which introduce our nation’s Constitution was limited primarily to the white, landowning males of that era, and there is no reason to assume that our “founding Fathers” ever envisioned a change in the status quo for their respective posterity to follow.

And so it is that we the American people have these wonderful words as an introduction to our national law of the land, and yet we have had to struggle these past 229 years to mature and develop beyond the bigoted perspective of our own social ancestry.

To our “founding Fathers” then we owe a debt of gratitude for penning such words of potential, though we owe it to our generation and to our posterity to expand the scope of the application of the principles so documented beyond the limited scope of our bigoted past.

In essence, we the American people, may one day become a great society, when and only when, we think and operate beyond the limitations of our bigoted ancestry, by applying the potential of the Preamble of our Constitution to each and every person; with prejudice against nor preference for anyone or any class of persons; in hopes of truly securing “the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity”; hopefully henceforth and forevermore.

Why Do Atheists Debate The Topic of God

Today, I was challenged on a discussion board as to why we Atheists debate the topic of God, since we don’t believe in such. My response:

I can understand your perspective. There is a side of me that would just go on with my life and not ever address the topic. For those who do so, I tip my hat to them. But there are many reasons why I personally pursue the topic (I speak just for myself):

1. The concept of God has historically been a propaganda tool. I grew up learning about “Westward Expansion” and “Manifest Destiny'”; instead of being taught about imperialism, torture, enslavement, and genocide. To me, accurate history is important, hence a realistic perspective as to our national sins of the past 500 years will be helpful to hopefully guide us to a more humane way of life in the fortunately

2. In that regard, unfortunately, the concept of God is a contemporary political tool; both in our country and elsewhere. And when I say a political tool, I mean a tool which results in and which justifies inflicting suffering. So long as monotheism continues, then god might as well be alive to represent the nationalist zealots who support torture and killing in order to “protect their way of life’. If that “way of life” is perceived to be “God blessed”, then the concept of God is detrimental to peace, harmony, and good health.

3. People kill in the name of God. So long as the concept of God is unchecked, unaddressed, and unopposed, then people will go on killing in the name of their gods.

4. The concept of God is the justification for many racisms and bigotries. So long as there is homophobia and misogyny in the name of God, then the concept of God continues to play a role in subjugating minorities and justifying the denial of basic human rights to all.

Concl: The issue from my perspective regarding my personal quest to reason and dialogue regarding “god”; is not that which is not real (God); the issue is that which is all too real: Revisionist history, justified ongoing human atrocities in the way of war, murder, torture, homophobia, sexism, and many other such bigotries; IN THE NAME OF GODS.

So long as such continues, I personally feel morally obligated to to do what I can to reason against ignorance, and to attempt to be the best person I know how in the process.

On the Uninformed and the Ill Informed

I truly believe that most people are uninformed and ill informed as to the social immorality which is the American way of life.

I look at my own circumstance, and for my part, I honestly did not know of the social immorality of our system; and that it dated to day one when the Euromaniacs landed here in 1492 and subsequently tortured, murdered, exploited and then starved out local Natives; all to feed the greed of the monied interests in Spain. You know, you just don’t get taught that stuff in school.

I think most people are honestly ill informed, and are just so busy trying to survive everyday life to take the time to research and learn the atrocities which are and have been the American way of life. I personally never realized until I did some serious research and labored over several books of the systematic and oftentimes violent exploitation of humanity which has been our history and which is “the American way of life”. I knew that we did the Native Americans wrong, but I certainly did not know to what extent. I never realized that we systematically murdered and displaced people whose sole crime was living on land coveted by filthy greedy plutocrats who bribed the government to murder and displace entire civilizations of people on their behalf. And I certainly would never have connected the dots as to the fact that such was done globally as well, all throughout our history. I never knew until I did some serious research that our country invaded Nicaragua several times between the 1850s and 1890s; nor did I know that during that same span we invaded China, Japan, Africa, and the Philippines; each and every time on behalf of corporate interests. I tell you, when I read of how we tortured and murdered the Philipinos on behalf of the Dole Fruit Company in the 1890’s I could hardly stand to even see a can of Dole fruit on the shelf at the Grocery Store And I never knew that our CIA overthrew the government of Iran in 1953 on behalf of Standard Oil (now BP). And I never knew that our own government burned children alive in their mother’s arms on behalf of the Mining industry in the early 20th Century. I certainly never knew that our troops fired on WWI vets who were marching to DC demanding decent care after returning from war. And I only in the past few years have come to know of ALEC and the Koch Brothers, and their successful efforts to bribe our Nationally elected officials to pass legislation in their interests. I simply did not know. I was uninformed, and worse yet I was ill informed.

I tell you people, the best thing I ever did in my life was to turn off Rush Limbaugh after 20 years as a faithful listener to his propaganda on behalf of those who exploit people’s lives and circumstances, and began studying the system which has created the poverty which allows people to remain in such circumstances. The realization that our entire system has always been and continues to this day to be based upon the exploitation of people’s circumstances and daily services was a tough pill for me to swallow. I am still irritated at myself for being so easily misled, uninformed, and ill informed; and I am beyond irritated at the realization that ours is an immoral way of life, driven by people who only view their fellow human being as a commodity to exploit. We should be ashamed to pass ourselves off as a society founded on goodness; and we should repent of such and start utilizing wealth on behalf of the poor, instead of utilizing the poor on behalf of the wealthy.

Beware The Written Word

Beware the written word,

When choosing right from wrong.

Words are human expressions,

As the lyrics of a song.

Even this poem,

Merely my personal thoughts.

Reflect beyond such words,

When choosing not from ought.

Written words may be a guide,

Yet interpretations deceive.

Be selective what you read,

Even more so what you believe.

For laws and regulations,

Verses and scriptural citations.

May be the utility of the deceitful,

To confuse church and nation.

I would hope the Christian’s life,

Bible values would exceed.

For sensitivity to suffering,

Is a noble quality indeed.

Even a lawyer’s written decision,

Was our past President’s alibi.

When torture and human suffering,

He sought to justify.

Beyond Book, Chapter, and Verse,

Beyond Code and Ordinance.

The worth while guide to right,

Compassion and kindness,

Noble qualities of humanity.

Felt and experienced,

A sure guide for you and me.

Beware the written word,

When choosing right from wrong.

The standard and the guide,

Was within you all along.

America: Won’t You Please Come To Your Senses

They bound and gagged Bobby Seale;
Just to shut his mouth.
‘Cause they did not like the truth,
That the man was putting out.

Nixon shredded the papers,
And erased 18 minutes off the tape.
So that accountability for his ways;
He could then escape.

Our troops shot four unarmed students dead,
At the Kent State Massacre in 1970.
A tragic day for America,
Or so it seems to me.

Illegal US wars in Latin America,
While Reagan simply smiled and waved.
Propaganda his main device,
His image was successfully saved.

O for shame, for shame.
America finally learned to blush.
When President Clinton,
Got a BJ in the White House.

And then the Great Snipe Hunt,
Of the 21st Century!
Off to war Bush sent us,
In search of WMD’s!!

Our troops do torture,
Our drones indiscriminately kill.
But “Onward American Soldiers”
Perpetual War is Conservative America’s will!

Cops get away with murder,
The Grand Jury has the final say.
Troops get away with torture,
Presidents simply get away.

But listen up War Hawks,
Listen up apologists for torture by our side.
Listen up those who gag informative mouths,
And force truth revealers to go overseas and hide.

You can sing “God Bless America”,
At the Ballpark in the 7th Inning.
But you cannot change the facts,
That America has done a lot of sinning.

So pledge allegiance to your flag,
And sing God’s praises on our land still.
But why not a “Come to Jesus” meeting,
And come clean about our social ills.

Once and for all,
Bring America off our high horse.
And admit we are a nation like all others,
With merits and demerits of course.

Admit when we are wrong,
Hold the guilty to account.
Let’s clean up our act,
And actually be what we claim to be about.

Recall our troops,
Regulate our cops.
Time to clean house,
Grab a bucket and a mop.

Let’s embrace open democracy,
Welcome dissent as social input.
Restore the Free Press,
Time to get off on the right foot.

Won’t you please come to your senses,
Let care and compassion prevail?
May hatred, weaponry, and bigotry,
All be sent to hell.

We can change what we want,
But we have to want the changes we need.
Let’s change the shape we are in,
For America is in a shameful state indeed.

On Manifest Destiny

Manifest Destiny is the myth that with God on “our side”,  meanness is permissible and even the most cruel means to a desired end are justifiable.

The basic theory of Manifest Destiny is that “with God on our side” a given people can do whatever they want on the premise that by so doing they are fulfilling “God’s will”.  The end always justifies the means because the doing of the deed is allegedly the execution of “God’s will”.

The bottom line is the theory that war crimes and wicked deeds are justified so long as God is “on our side”.

Manifest Destiny is by no means a new concept.  The theory dates back as far as written history itself records beliefs in deities and regional conquests for gain.  The former has historically been utilized to justify the latter.

Manifest Destiny was the justification for the indiscriminate and inhumane slaughtering of men, women, children, and even animals at Jericho by the Joshua lead Israeli Army as recorded in Joshua 6 of the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament)

Manifest Destiny was the justification of the slaughter of the Midianite men, women, and children; and the subsequent capture of the virgin girls to be taken as sex slaves by the Israeli Army as commanded by Moses and as recorded in Numbers 31 of the Hebrew Bible.

Manifest Destiny was the justification for the exploitation of the gentleness and the generosity of the Indigenous people of the Caribbean by Columbus when he stumbled upon the proverbial gold mine of the Caribbean Islands in search of the Americas.  Clearly, it was God’s will that Columbus get lost and land at the wrong spot, thereby allowing Columbus and his men to enslave the gentle natives to rape their own land in search of gold for Columbus to take back as a peace offering (bribe?) to the queen to pacify her and to justify his less than efficient navigational skills (Speaking of rape of the land, there was even more literal rape as well; but as we have already seen from the Old Testament, rape is by no means taboo when executing God’s will.  Manifest Destiny does allow for certain “spoils for the victors”; a concept that the biblical hero Moses had understood all too well).

Manifest Destiny was the justification for the slaughter of the Native Americans and the stealing of their land by the undocumented Euromaniacs who illegally invaded this land and immorally stole it from the Indigenous people whom they subjugated, slaughtered, and displaced.  Indeed our country itself was founded by illegal immigration and immoral means; but when God is on your side, the means of meanness are mere utility to the doing of His will.

Manifest Destiny was the justification for the cruel and lethal slave trade and the institutional slavery which resulted from the very process itself.  The ignorant theory being that people of color are inferior beings, and thus it was clearly God’s will that Africans be utilized to effect the means of superior minds in accord with the manifest plan of the Almighty God Himself.  (Even today, the ignorant and thoughtless statement is made that Blacks are better off now because they were brought to America from Africa as though institutional slavery and Jim Crow racism are somehow an “upgrade” and a justification for uprooting people from their homeland, inhumanely cramming them onto ships, then enslaving the ⅓ of the people who actually survived the trip.  The ignorance of those who maintain the theory of Manifest Destiny is all too oftentimes matched by the thoughtless and insensitive arrogance of the same).

Manifest Destiny was the justification for dropping the Atomic bomb not only once but TWICE on the same nation, killing almost a quarter of a million people, mainly innocent civilians.  When I was in public school I was taught that the killing of those quarter of a million people in Japan saved lives by ending the war, but only faith in Manifest Destiny could be so irrational.  The untold misery upon the Japanese people is still commonly thought to be a justifiable act of war by those who are able to justify in their own deluded minds such atrocities in the name of an allegedly benevolent God.

Even now Manifest Destiny is the justification by the radical Christian terrorists known as The Lord’s Resistance Army who have kidnapped, maimed, and  tortured in order to convert the people of Africa in their quest to impose the Bible’s Ten Commandments as the law of the land.  They have kidnapped girls in order to have wives, and they have murdered those who refuse to convert since their reign of terror began in the late 1980’s and continues even now.  And they do so because they believe that God is on their side.  In other words they believe that their barbaric deeds are justified as a matter of Manifest Destiny.

Even now Manifest Destiny is the justification by the radical Islamic terrorists known as The Islamic State who have kidnapped, maimed, and  tortured in order to convert the people of Syria and Iraq in their quest to impose the teachings of radical Islam as the law of the land.  They have kidnapped girls in order to have wives, and they have murdered those who refuse to convert since their reign of terror began about a year ago,  and continues even now.  And they do so because they believe that Allah is on their side.  In other words they believe that their barbaric deeds are justified as a matter of Manifest Destiny.

And so on and on the madness and the malevolence of the human race continues.  And so continues the theory that war crimes and wicked deeds are justified so long as God is “on our side”.

Perhaps such is merely the Manifest Destiny of humanity.

Thoughts on MLK’s Speech: “Beyond Vietnam”

What a wonderful experience I had yesterday day evening.

I had the most educational and revelational experience of listening to the original cut of Martin Luther King’s “Beyond Vietnam” speech.

Mr King’s “Beyond Vietnam” speech was delivered on April 4, 1967, exactly one year to the day before his assassination in Memphis, Tennessee.

“Beyond Vietnam” is one of the most informative and sincerely delivered speeches I have ever heard dealing with the topic of American militarism and US imperialism.

“Beyond Vietnam” was met with harsh criticism by those “in high places”.  (Perhaps the good Reverend stepped on some toes?)

Listening to this powerful speech which called out the US not only for undue aggression but also for political agenda in waging misery on the peoples of societies who are helpless in the wake of our warmongering ways, I was reminded that not much has changed in the last 45 years.

I would that every school child were permitted the opportunity to listen to “Beyond Vietnam” at least once a year as a practical means of their educational experience.

I offer posthumous thanks to Martin Luther King for attempting to appeal to our humanity in an effort to enlighten us as to the evils of war, and to challenge us to rise above our “leaders” and be sincerely compassionate and caring people.

A Fatherly Chat

The price of civilization son,

Is very high indeed.

Explained the father to the son,

Who he bounced upon his knee.

Always remember son,

Our long lost fallen killers.

This land would not be ours,

Were it not for heroic blood spillers.

Give honor to those who never gave up,

They conquered and murdered the Indians.

It took several hundred years,

But their land we finally did win.

Lest we forget, (if we ever knew),

How we  pillaged the Philippines.

And how we oppressed and dominated Cuba,

After their independence from Spain so mean.

And appreciate the sacrifices made,

When we dropped the atomic bomb on Japan.

They forced us to do it son,

To mass murder the citizens of their land.

And always know my son,

That civilization operates off low paid labor.

So the privileged and the rich,

Can their exploited profits savor.

And this son is the reason why,

The blood of others must always spill.

So that civilization might thrive,

And our way of life remain still.

So conquest and murder is good,

In order to establish civilization.

And weapons of mass destruction save lives,

So long as others suffer the mutilation.

I hope you enjoyed our little chat son,

Now off to Bible School.

And believe whatever your school teacher says,

And always follow the rules.
